Dr Jade Dittaro
Dr Jade Dittaro has said since age 3 when she grew up she wanted to help people. She knew in her heart that meant becoming a doctor. She graduated from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and went on to complete family practice residency through the UBC Rural Okanagan program in Kelowna, BC. She works as a Hospitalist and a locuming family physician, is now the Co Site Director of the very residency program she graduated from, and is a clinical instructor with the medical school here in the Okanagan.
She and her husband Jeff reside in Kelowna with their 3 cats and now their 2 year old daughter, Siena, who is Jade’s inspiration for the next step in her career. Last year Jade, who is one of the directors of Critteraid Animal Sanctuary, and Siena, were able to meet and help care for 3 calves Critteraid rescued from the dairy industry. Although always teetering on vegetarian and vegan, Jade felt in that moment it only made sense to become fully vegan, adopting a plant based diet, and made it her mission to learn everything she can about how a whole food plant based diet is the most optimal way to eat for health, the environment and the animals. With raising a child she also wants to show the world how healthy children can be eating this way.
She is now certified in plant base nutrition from eCornell University, and writing her American Board of Lifestyle Medicine exam this fall. She has plans to open her own clinic in lifestyle medicine in the not so distant future.
